41.

The patrolmen are 90% accurate and can spot one a block away. Usually they don't bother, but they may stop the TV and warn him. In times of "clean-up" they will run in TVs. They have been on the alert for some time here. As I probably told you one of my ex-boy friends is a city detective. He took me to night court several times. and often some woebegone TV would be standing there with such a doleful look. It just happened the TVs were there at the time we went in to watch. My friend was showing me some of his work was all. I met quite a few judges and they passed off the TVs as crackpots and usually gave them suspended sentences.

In France, where I have spent considerable time, it is common knowledge that a person may wear any clothing he desires. And in peace, without fear, and in public. If he obeys the laws of the Republic he is left to carry on as he will in the choice of attire. Many of the young TVs are very pretty and go about living their life with a verve that comes only from knowing that they cannot do otherwise. Under the Code Napoleon they are guaran- teed the right to the clothing they wish to assume. But what is interesting is that only the young and pretty venture out into the streets and the old have sense enough to know their limits. Have you heard of Cocchinelle? He/She looks enough like Marily Monroe to be her sister. Cocchinelle means "Lady Bird" in French and "she" is really an eyeful. But therein lies the tale. Those like her can go about and nobody makes a fuss because she is pretty. For the unfortunates who are too masculine or "funny" to look feminine it is just as dull a life as for those here. They would be laughed out of the streets. as freaks. Well enough for now.
